En Plein Air Painting in Newenden
1- Day Landscape Painting Workshop
Newenden, Kent
Sat June 13th or Sat Sept 26th 2026: Price: £95
Should the forecast be terrible, we will reschedule for a better day.
I hope you can make it. It’s going to be fun!
To join the day, please use the sign up button below. I’ll then email instructions about how to pay.
In this workshop, we’ll be painting in the village of Newenden in Kent. There are plenty of options of what to paint in Newenden, including a river, a bridge, even some flooded Marshlands (in winter). I’ll be giving a short demo in the morning and you’ll be encouraged to paint freely and impressionistically in the afternoon. .
Suitable for oil or acrylic painters
Please join me for this fun 1-day painting on location “en plein air” workshop
When: Sat June 13th or Sept 26th 2026 . 10am - 4pm
Where: We’ll meet in Newenden. There is free parking along the side of the Lossenham Lane. If you can’t find a spot there is also £5 for the day parking just before the bridge on the same side as the Boating Station (I think it’s the cricket pitch or village hall). We’ll meet in the car park of the White Lion Pub (but don’t park there). There might be free parking at The Boating Station (Lime Wharf Cafe) but I’m not sure on the restrictions.
Lunch: I recommend bringing your own packed lunch, or depending on the time of year, lunch can be bought at The Lime Wharf Cafe (there may be queues).
Price: £95 (cheaper than other workshops as lunch is not included and there are no location fees)
This workshop is great for beginners who may simply wish to sketch on the day, and is also suitable for established artists who might wish to paint in a new location with like-minded company.
What to bring:
If you are just beginning your location painting experience, you may prefer just to bring a camping chair, and a sketchbook or a drawing board with papers and paints (I can provide drawing boards to rest on if you wish).
For more experienced artists, please bring your own en plein air painting equipment, such as:
A field/plein air easel & tripod
brushes and a palette knife
paints & Solvents: I’ll be using oils but you can bring acrylics if you wish.
Painting panels can be provided with a pink/orange ground. Please let me know if you’d like one?
A jar for water or solvents, rags or kitchen roll, a plastic bag for rubbish. Painting gloves if needed.
Please remember to bring suitable clothing or aprons and suitable footwear - walking by the river can be boggy depending on the time of year
If you are lacking any painting equipment or are travelling from abroad or further afield, please let me know and I can assist.
