Like the idea but can’t make the date? That’s fine, message me and I’ll see if another date can work.
In this workshop, we’ll be painting “En Plein Air” in the countryside. We will walk along footpaths and streams to paint anything that catches our eye. The workshop will include a demo on how to do a reductive style underpainting and how to produce a sense of distance and atmosphere in landscape painting.
Suitable for oil or acrylic painters
Please join me for this fun 1-day painting on location “en plein air” workshop
When: May 10th & July 4th. 10am - 4pm
Where: We’ll meet at the lay-by on Smallhythe Rd just near the National Trust Property “Smallhythe Place”. Please note, we won’t be painting this property or in their grounds, but we can use their coffee shop for refreshments and toilet breaks. Parking is free but space is limited on the side of the road. If you can’t find a spot, park in the Church carpark just before Smallhythe Place.
Price: £95 (this workshop is cheaper than others, because lunch is not provided and there are no location fees to pay)
This workshop is great for beginners who may simply wish to sketch on the day, and is also suitable for established artists who might wish to paint in a new location with like-minded company.
What to bring:
If you are just beginning your location painting experience, you may prefer just to bring a camping chair, and a sketchbook or a drawing board with papers and paints (I can provide drawing boards to rest on if you wish).
For more experienced artists, please bring your own en plein air painting equipment, such as:
A field/plein air easel & tripod
brushes and a palette knife
paints & Solvents: I’ll be using oils but you can bring acrylics if you wish.
Painting panels can be provided with a pink/orange ground if you wish. Please let me know if you’d like one?
A jar for water or solvents, rags or kitchen roll, a plastic bag for rubbish. Painting gloves if needed.
Please remember to bring suitable clothing or aprons and suitable footwear
If you are lacking any painting equipment or are travelling from abroad or further afield, please let me know and I can assist.
